NOW
is NOW really should be named Then to Now as it feels like this CD,
"Transitions" evolved through time. Though the opening track, "Daydream," was a
song highlighted in the band's press material - and it IS a terrific song - it's
a bit dated-sounding; kind of has a late '80's rock vibe to it. But keep
reading..."Transitions" is an appropriate CD title as when I reached the halfway
point, "Sail Away," the album took a different turn: NOW is NOW developed into
more of a contemporary acoustic/singer/songwriter band. Lovely, folksy,
introspective...my ears and opinion were swayed with "Sail Away" and I remained
on this ride for the remainder of the album. Oh lest you think NOW is NOW is all
lite twang pop, the song "Heaven Helps," a delicious, heavier rock tune, kicks
that image right out the window. The warm acoustic side returns in "Down" and
"Young Man" and I was captivated by the instrumental "Transitions." I wish the
CD began with Track 4 for from there onward, this Maine-based band made a strong
impression. I definately recommend picking this CD up - excellent production as
well.
